And now, without further ado, a Top Five as requested by [info]pastry_slutbag

now this was really hard for me, as I don't watch as much TV as I do read books or watch movies, but I am trying very hard to stay in the TV category here, so bear with me.

5. George Jergens-

I know the show and the premise and everything seems lame, but the Secret Life of the American Teenager isn't horrible. I've been sort of impressed by the acting of Molly Ringwald in particular. But it's the character of George that really makes me proud. The world needs more good dads like that. Your 15 year old is pregnant, your marriage is falling apart, you're cheating, and your business isn't doing well. Sounds like a jackass dad dealing with heavy issues. But he's been so supportive and coolheaded toward all the women in his life that I can't help but be impressed. He even came over to the house he no longer lives in, and helped his daughter take care of his grandson all night without blinking an eye. He only wants what's best, and while he has a temper, he seems to really care for his daughters the right way.

4. Joey Jeremiah-

Another teen soap opera, I'm so bad! Imagine this: You're a used car salesmen and a widower with a young daughter to take care of. Your love life is a disaster and always seems to have been. You're too young to have to handle all of this mess. All of a sudden, you find out your wife's first son from another marriage, your daughter's half brother, is being violently abused by his father. Not only that, but he's severely bi polar. What do you do? Well if your Joey, you take the kid in and give him the closest thing to a loving home you've ever known. You search for him when he goes off of his meds, you comfort him when his fears become too much, and you're hard on him when he's a douchebag. All the while, you manage to beautifully raise a daughter, try your hand at relationships, and keep up some very loyal friendships.

 3. Larry Finkelstein

Old burnt out hippie dad who really doesn't understand how the world works but manages to live in it quite comfortably anyway? Don't mind if I do! Sure he was stupid, but he was never mean or spiteful. His daughter marries a U.S. Attorney and he's still there for her! He's all about his main lady, though he never married her, and he's always trying to help Dharma even though he usually makes it worse. You'll notice this list is full of the clueless and unconventional. Which brings me to...

2. Dan Connor

Amber was so on board when she named this one. This man had three nasty little hellspawn for kids, a rough job for most of it, and not enough income to do what he wants to do. And yet, he stays and does his best. He loves his wife, tries to do what's best for his whore of a daughter to the point where she at least finds self worth in herself and doesn't destroy her life. And he even forms a father son bond with his other daughter's boyfriend! He works on motorcycles, eats too much, is always seen with a beer...but he loves his kids and you know it.

1. Homer Simpson!!!

A good dad has flaws, and screws up, but is still a good dad and trying at the end of the day. That's our homer in a nutshell. He had all his air conditioner money saved up, but bought Lisa her saxomophone instead. He was supposed to go to Vegas but Bart was having discipline troubles, so they went on an adventure instead. And he may forget Maggie's name sometimes, but he is fully aware of how much she kicks ass. He worships his wife and has never strayed, and in the movie, he managed to walk all the way from Alaska to Sprinfield just to save them!

Did you ever watch the original Degrassi series, Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High where Joey Jeremiah was a character on there as well?

No I never watched it, it's hard to look at the eighties.

It's so good though! and you'll totally appreciate Joey Jeremiah and how Craig-like he was in the originals.

I'm going to make you watch some at Christmas.

I can't watch SLotAT because it makes my brain HURT. I've read some things, watched some episodes, and I just can't.

However. Joey Jeremiah is a great dad, on a TV show where there are SO many bad dads. Totally love the Homer Simpson and the Dan Connor, though I'm not suprised.
